How to Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor Near You
A certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor can set up your books, clean up past mistakes, train you and your team, or handle your bookkeeping for you. Here's how to find a good one.
Use Intuit's Find-a-ProAdvisor Directory
Intuit runs a free directory of certified ProAdvisors on the QuickBooks website. Search by location or choose remote help, then filter by the services, industries and QuickBooks versions you need. Each profile shows certifications, services and client reviews.
Match Their Certification to Your Version
Many ProAdvisors are certified only in QuickBooks Online. If you use QuickBooks Desktop or Enterprise, look for someone with Desktop experience — the two products work quite differently behind the scenes.
Questions to Ask Before You Hire
- Which QuickBooks versions are you certified in?
- Do you work with other businesses in my industry?
- Do you charge by the hour, per project or a monthly fee?
- Can you clean up books that are months behind?
- Will you train me, or do the bookkeeping for me?
- How do you access my file, and how do you keep my data secure?
What a ProAdvisor Costs
Rates vary a lot by location and experience. One-off setup or cleanup projects are usually quoted as a flat fee; ongoing bookkeeping is usually a monthly fee based on how many transactions you have. Get two or three quotes before you decide.
Other Places to Look
- Ask your tax accountant — many are ProAdvisors or work with one
- Ask other business owners in your industry or local business groups
- Check your local chamber of commerce or Small Business Development Center
